September Fun Beach Bash and Beach Volley Ball Tournament

-Placencia Village Saturday, September 13, 2008September is a month of celebrations and month to be a proud Belizean.  To add more to the festivities of the month,  Atlantic Bank Placencia and the Placencia Chapter of the BTIA, decided to join efforts and hold a September Fun Beach Bash along with a volleyball tournamentAtlantic Bank & Dull Knife Battling for the Win.

The day started off to a slow start, but as it progressed the Bar-B-Q  grill was smoking and cold drinks were being served.  As the PBTIA & Atlantic Bank measured the size of the volleyball field, PBTIA employee, Felshia Brown registered all teams at a fee of $25.00 which went to the winner of the tournament.

There were a total of 10 teams – Atlantic Bank, Become Caribbean, Dull Knife, Los Portico 1, Placencia BTIA, Placencia Village Council, Karel’s Barber Shop, Scotia Bank, The Diving Pelican and Los Portico 2.  Become Caribbean and Los Portico kicked off the tournament.  It was more than just a game of fun.  The players were in it for the kill and to come out on top.

Although the sun was unleashing its sizzling heat, DJ Tuca was spinning its great tunes and a bungy tramoline was available for kids to occupy their time.  It was a day of sure fun!  Not only were people psyched to play in the tournament, but there were also some spectators on the beach enjoying the tournament and a beach goers cooling off in the cool, calm Caribbean Sea. 
                                                                                     
The games continued despite the heat. Each team took on their share of the battle to move on to the finals. The 5 teams that advanced were Become Caribbean, Dull Knife, PBTIA, Karel’s Barber Shop and Diving Pelican, but in the end there could only be three teams that were fighting for first, second and third place.

As the finals carried on, the PBTIA staff and board were under the tent selling  finger licking Bar-B-Q and  ice cold beers, soda and water to quench everyone’s thirst. Placencia BTIA Stall selling Bar-B-Q and cold drink.
 
As the finals came to an end, the Diving Pelican took the first place trophy along with the $250.00 cash prize, and two cases of beer.  Become Caribbean took the second place trophy along with 2 cases of beer, and the third place trophy and a case of beer went to Karel’s Barber Shop.

The day continued with a beach soccer match  between Atlantic Bank and Los Porticos, with Atlantic Bank winning the game and taking a case of beer as their prize.

Marketing Opportunity for the CATM 2008 - Centro America Travel Market

The Placencia BTIA will be attending the Centro America Travel Market (CATM) next month in Nicaragua.  In preparation for this our marketing department is preparing a promotional Placencia CD which will be distributed to the buyers at this tradeshow that visit our booth.  
For just $200 your business can be included on this great promotional item that will be given to at least 100 tourism professionals if not more.  What an excellent and inexpensive way to get your businesses important information out to potential customers!

That is it.  Production of this CD will start immediately and the deadline for final submission is Friday September 23.  Space is Limited so please don’t wait until the last minute. We hope that you will take advantage of this excellent opportunity which will promote your business and your beautiful destination. 
Also brochures can be carried at $75.00 for every 100 brochures. Those that have taken advantage of the CD Promotion can include their brochures for just $50.00 for every 100 brochures.
On another note the Placencia BTIA is still asking for great photos of Placencia to be included in the CD’s slide show.
